Venue

Located at the heart of Europe in Burgundy, Flanders, the charming, compact city of Bruges makes the perfect setting for an impactful ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting, being home to state-of-the-art meeting facilities and close to distinguished international knowledge institutions, renowned hospitals and centres of excellence in hip preservation. With a long history in medicine reaching back to the 12th century, Bruges is equally playing a leading role in the future of healthcare, forging partnerships between healthcare organisations, research institutes and key industry players.

Bruges is quickly and easily accessible by train from Brussels, which has connectivity to over 300 cities worldwide. Once delegates have arrived, the meeting spaces and hotels are available within a short walk, making the city both easily navigable and highly sustainable.

Bruges as a sustainable destination for ISHA 2026

Bruges aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by 2030 as an intermediate step to becoming climate-neutral in 2050.

Both venues for ISHA 2026 hold “Green Key” certification, which recognises efforts in sustainable and responsible business practices, such as reducing carbon footprint through energy and water-saving measures, offering local, organic and/or vegetarian options, avoiding disposable packaging and cleaning using ecological products. Further, the BMCC meets the requirements of a nearly zero energy building (nZEB) and was the first venue in Flanders to receive the M+ label for its accessibility measures.

Meeting spaces

ISHA 2026 will take place across two meeting spaces, just two minutes’ walk apart in the historic city centre:

  • Plenary sessions will take place in the comfortable and spacious auditorium of the striking Bruges Concert Hall (Concertgebouw Brugge)
  • Registration, parallel sessions, lunchtime workshops, ad-hoc meetings and the industry exhibition will take place in the purpose-built Bruges Meeting and Convention Centre (BMCC), which was designed by world-famous architect Souto de Moura and opened as recently as 2022.

Getting to the venue

Bruges is a compact city that is easy to navigate on foot. The Train Station is around 15 minutes’ walk from the venue for ISHA 2026 and around 20 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
